InnerCity Tennis & Learning Program

InnerCity Tennis & Learning Program

Supervised Academic & Athletic Learning Pods

Registration is now open!

As an optional, community based program, the InnerCity Tennis & Learning Program will provide a safe space for students to engage in distance learning with supportive educators, while remaining physically active through playing tennis and participating in a health and wellness program. We aim to serve as a bridge between schools and parents to best support students and create a caring, small classroom community while schools hold virtual classes.

In this program, each site will be a “pod” of no more than a total of 20 students in grades 1-5. Each pod will be split into small groups of up to 6 students. Each small group will rotate through distance learning, tennis, and health and wellness stations. The program will run Monday-Friday as long as schools are in distance learning. The full day program will cost $400, but to prevent cost from being a barrier, scholarships are available for all in need. For more specific information on each “pod”, continue reading below.

FAQ's

How will my child be kept safe?

InnerCity Tennis & Learning Program Policies

What should my student bring?

  • Mask
  • Lunch
  • Fully charged Laptop or Tablet
  • Laptop or Tablet Charger
  • Headphones
  • Water Bottle
  • Snack (optional)
  • Racket

How will this program work with my student’s school schedule?

Enhancing and supporting students’ education in these difficult times is the program’s number one priority. We have communicated with each school to set up the program to allow students to be present and engaged in their school sessions with their teachers whether they are live or pre-recorded lessons.

Do my students need to bring any special equipment? What is the proper attire?

Students who already have a junior racquet between 21 and 25 inches should bring it to the program. If your student does not have his or her own racquet, we have plenty that can be used and given out if your student is interested in having his or her own.

Students should come to the program wearing clothing they are comfortable moving around in. Closed toed, non-marking shoes should be worn each day.

What is the pick up and drop off procedure?

For drop off, parents/guardians are asked to send a text to 612-888-3757 when students have arrived during the designated drop off time. You can drop off or walk your student to the front doors. A coach will be there to greet your child and walk them into the facility.

For pick up, parents/guardians are asked to send a text to 612-888-3757 when they arrive in the parking lot. A coach will then bring your student to the front of the building. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to stay in their car and we will send your student out to you.
