Aly Samabaly - Head Pro Fitness Trainer

Aly fell in love with sport at a very young age running the streets of Africa. His love of sport and hard work took him to Paris, France, and eventually to St. Vincent St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, where he and teammate LeBron James took their team to back to back Ohio State High School Basketball Championship titles in 2000 & 2001. He is certified by AMPFT & NASM.

After playing NCAA D1 Basketball in the Atlantic 10 Conference, Aly became passionate about fitness, nutrition, and personal training. He formerly served as the Director of Personal Training at L.A. Fitness and owned and managed Branding Fitness Studio.

2018 SUMMER SESSION (June 23 - August 4)

ICT Fitness with AlyProTrainer provides excellent on-court fitness training programs for every age and every ability, from the youngest first-time beginners to our seasoned tournament players. Whatever your age or skill level, we have a program that fits you!
 


AlyProTrainer program is divided up into 4 different groups, based on age and ability.


10U FITNESS TRAINING (Ages 7-10) • Register for Summer

This program is designed to engage young kids in functional tennis movements while having tons of FUN. Our focus is on developing motor skills and coordination with fun games to help them see their own fitness development as an essential and enjoyable part of life. Our goal is to improve speed, reflexes, core strength, balance, hand-eye coordination and flexibility, all crucial to the development of a complete athlete. During training, we will also focus on what it means to be an athlete on and of the court. Note: Parents are welcome and encouraged to join in with their children during each class.

 

EQUIPMENT

  • Low and mid resistance bands
  • Body weight exercises
  • Nutrition guidance
  • Character strengthening

CLASSES: Saturdays, 3:00-4:00 pm

FEE: $150

 


14U FITNESS TRAINING (Ages 11-14)  • Register for Summer

These athletes are a bit more advanced in term of motor skills. They will be challenged to think fast; develop muscle endurance, control body movement; increase strength, balance, and quickness; and learn how to visualize their game for practice and tournament play. Here every detail matters. Our goal is to prepare and give these young athletes the right tools to play and compete like a true champion, respecting themselves and everyone around them. Mental training focuses on dealing with pressure and maintaining intensity and a positive attitude in the face of challenging circumstances and tough opponents.

  • Character strengthening

CLASSES: Saturdays, 1:00-2:00 pm

FEE: $150


18U FITNESS TRAINING (Ages 15-18)  • Register for Summer

This level is for athletes with advanced skills in tennis, who are ready to be challenged to be stronger, faster and develop muscle endurance to sustain a high level of performance in practice and tournaments. They will be pushed to develop maximum strength, agility, flexibility, and endurance, while learning about the importance of injury prevention, nutrition, and recovery. Mental training during workouts will focus on learning to fight and stay focused under pressure and to play the game with passion.

  • Light to Mid weight medicine ball
  • Plyometrics
  • Nutrition guidance
  • Character strengthening

CLASSES: Saturdays, 2:00-3:00 pm

FEE: $150

 

PERSONAL TRAINING (Ages 15+)

These private classes for 1-2 athletes are for all ICT adults and youth 15+, who are looking to get in top shape whether for tennis specifically or life in general. I will help you improve your balance, core strength, muscle mass and tone, while you lose fat and learn about nutrition and injury prevention. Getting in better physical shape will help you feel strong and confident, and it will certainly improve your overall fitness on and off the court.

How Do I register?

Are scholarships available?

  • Need-based scholarships are available for all youth.
  • New applications must be submitted before the start of each session for consideration.
  • Applications can be downloaded online at innercitytennis.org/youth/cities-academy.

Are athletes 14 and younger ready for intensive fitness training?

Absolutely! Many studies have shown that physical training, including age-appropriate strength training, is beneficial for children. Our goal is to help our young athletes embrace a healthy lifestyle and understand what their bodies are capable of. We use low impact training methods, such as bands, body weight, and heavy balls, to increase their strength, speed, agility, balance, stability, flexibility, and muscle endurance, while teaching them injury prevention, nutrition, and ICT’s seven core values along the way.

 

How long will it take for my child to start seeing results?

We are all different, and our bodies react in various ways to new fitness and nutrition regimens. Visible results depend largely on diet and the intensity and frequency of training. If your child is diligent, it generally takes 12-16 weeks for him or her to start seeing results. However, we guarantee that they will start feeling the results right away. That’s why we encourage you to focus less on visual results and more on the wonderful benefits that come with a healthy lifestyle: increased energy; reduced stress; improved strength and muscle tone; increased confidence; longer endurance; quicker feet; and much better flexibility, balance, and stability.

 

Should I check with my health professionals before starting an exercise regimen?

Yes. Depending on your age and health history, your healthcare provider may make recommendations on what types of exercises to avoid and which ones are appropriate, including the level of intensity. Safety is our first priority, so please check with your health provider before starting any new training program, and pass any relevant information on to us.

What are your registration/cancellation policies?

  • Payment required before or during the first week of class. ​
  • Permanent cancellations received in writing at least 10 business days prior to a session start date will be refunded in full. After that time, the fee can be refunded less 15% of the  pro-rated amount, or credited to another ICT program within one year.
  • Make-ups, credits and refunds cannot be given for missed classes, except for classes cancelled by ICT.
